Elona Minotaur Nerf? {Answered}
Something is up with the Minotaur in Elona Reach. I normally farm there for 30 minutes or so a night and make about 5k after all is said and done. Every once in a while, I will do a run and only get 2-3 drops total, but it's rare, normally only one or 2 Minotaur wont drop anything.
Last night however, I was not getting more than 3 drops on any of my runs. I tried logging out and logging back in, same results. I gave it a break for the night and then reattempted it this morning and this is how this morning???s runs turned out: First Run - 3 drops Second Run - 2 Drops Third Run - 0 Drops (!) Fourth Run - 1 Drop Fifth Run - 2 Drops Is anyone else getting similar results? Last edited by Vahn Roi; Jul 16, 2006 at 11:28 PM // 23:28.. |

Try farming somewhere else or playing through a couple of other missions. Sounds like you tripped the anti-farm code. After you do other things for awhile, you'll notice the drops getting a bit better.

Its a built in feature of the game, not something people just speculate about. Theres even an ingame hint screen telling you it activated the first time it does. |

I tried that place out earlier and got a drop from all of them. I think I make more from trolls though.

In all the time I have played I honestly had never heard of the Anti-farm code. I figured it was something that was rumored to recently have been added. A myth if anything. I mean, I have been farming for a long time in the same manner and this is the first time it's been tripped.
Can you get banned for tripping it too many times? Anyway, I did aspenwood for about 45 minutes then went back to Elona and everything seems to be fine again, thanks for the advice. |

Now, go to Elona with your 55 monk, warrior, elementalist or whichever character you please. Farm those minotaurs over and over. Do not zone into a different area. Never. Always just enter mission in Elona and then farm those minotaurs. Do it until you see the blue hints button that tells you about killing the same monsters over and over at the start of the mission. Do a few more runs after you see that pop-up. Notice your drops? Well, there aren't many. Go try out a Troll run now. Notice any drops? Same thing, not many. Once that pop-up shows, you're down for a day or so. It's not a "rumour that has been introduced recently", especially since people have been complaining about it since the beginning of Guild Wars. |

After reading the posts in this thread I figured out it wasn't a rumor thanks...
I was mearly stating that I found it odd that in all the time I have been farming, this is the first time I have tripped it, that's all. |

Are hints checked as a default, or something manual you have to do.

Default. You may have turned it off by accident at one point though

Because I do think that I farm quite a bit, and I have yet to see this.
Thanks for the info though, I'll be sure to check it |

You have to farm the exact same area several times in a row. That does not include switching areas.
Eventually, you will run into the dreaded blue tip, and you will be done for a while on that character. I ran into it with my monk, and drops were a large problem for the next 48 hours or so. |

I farm quite frequently, and I am VERY surprised I haven't seen it. Which leads me to believe that I have unchecked this. Though, whenever I'm in pre I still see the tips. So I'd assume that it's an account based thing, and doesn't revert back to default whenever you make a new character. Doesn't seem logical.

The Anti-farming code has two warnings. The first one informs you that if you continue to kill the monsters in the same area then their loot will decrease. It also advises you that there is no advantage to doing this and that you will get the same loot by playing through the game. We all know that this is not strictly true, but that's what it says. I have seen this message only once myself. The second message tells you that the monsters have in fact run out of loot. I have never seen this message myself though. Hope this helps. |

And it's not an Antifarming code it's an Antibot code, just to make it clear.
Doing the same thing repeatedly would make you act like a bot and that's why it's triggered. It's not because Anet is antifarming, they just can't see if you're actually playing or you're a bot. |
